Exciting January for Western Sports Fans: PBR Highlights

January is turning out to be one of the best months of the year for Western Sports fans.

PBR (Professional Bull Riders) began last week with an event featuring 0- of the top bull riders in the world to open the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado and closed a week’s worth of bull riding on Saturday night with PBR Michelob ULTRA Houston along with Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour events in Bakersfield, CA and Charleston, WV.

There is a whole lot more elite-level bull riding coming this week, including more mid-week action.

Tomorrow night the PBR Last Cowboy Standing starts inside Dickies Arema in Fort Worth, Texas with a roster of 40 bull riders competing in a progressive elimination where everyone will get on one bull; Round Two brings back 25, Round Three will feature the top 8 riders of the event and top four will advance to Round Four and lastly Round Five is winner take all.

As the polar vortex continues to work its way out, warmer temperatures are on the horizon. Houston will be the last time the Unleash The Beast (UTB) Series will be in Texas until the World Finals start in May.

The Houston UTB was chock of thrilling action that has implications in a tight World Champion race as Lucas “Jolly” Divino leapfrogged over teammate Dalton Kasel by winning the Michelob ULTRA PBR Houston Saturday night to move up to World No. 2.

John Crimber remains No. 1, currently 77.5 points ahead of Divino, who is riding a wave of momentum after winning Madison Square Garden to start the month and then Houston. On the PBR broadcast, Cooper Davis said Divino is “on a heater… never riding better in his career.”

Who walks out of Dickies Arena Last Cowboy Standing and survives the progressive elimination style? Anyone’s guess. But, it should make for edge-of-your seat do not miss television.

Beyond Last Cowboy Standing, there’s more Western Sports to watch.

Remember the inaugural Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo to kick off World Finals Championship weekend inside AT&T Stadium last year?

This transformational team-formatted rodeo returns and will open Championship weekend again this year. Before that, a Rock N Rodeo Qualifier will also be held Thursday night in Fort Worth.

This qualifier will serve an essential role in Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo. Teams will compete for their seeding in the event to open World Finals Championship Weekend and for a piece of the $100,000 qualifier purse. It should be excellent to see which team walks out the first steed. There will be five teams, and the lighting system will return, but competitors will not be competing head-to-head.

January may be a cold month, but the rodeo and bull-riding Gods have given us some great action these past weeks to compensate for that. Tune in on RidePass on Pluto TV or the PBR app at 8:00 PM ET Tuesday and Wednesday night to catch all of Last Cowboy Standing and 8:00 PM ET Thursday night to catch all of the exciting action of Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo Qualifier.

Good luck to all who are trying to become the Last Cowboy Standing!
