PBR Opens National Western
With the sold-out PBR (Professional Bull Riding) Unleash The Beast Chicago a wrap and another two-event weekend for the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour on both coasts completed this weekend, fans may think that they have to wait until the weekend starts on Thursday night for the Stockyards Showcase to catch more of America’s original extreme sport.
The World’s best bull riders may have put a bow on Chicago, but for many, just about every rider’s destination was not back home. Instead, they will be detouring to Denver, Colorado, to open the National Western Stock Show, a prestigious event in the World of bull riding, with a three-night event inviting the Top 90 bull riders in the World.
Yes, after a great weekend of UTB action, it usually takes a week to see the World’s best bulls against the best riders trying to hang for their 8 seconds of glory. But this week in January gifts fans a mid-week event. You may be asking, but how? It’s Denver, and I’m nowhere near the event area.
Well, lucky for us fans, PBR has thought of that. The event will be streaming on the PBR+ and RidePass on Pluto TV, making it accessible to all, starting January 13 through January 15 at 8:00 PM ET.
Can you think of a better way to start the week after a fantastic weekend where we saw the man with the Million-dollar smile, Joao Ricardo Viera, nod his head for the 1000th out and make the 8? Or is Brady Fielder hoisting the event championship buckle on the CanAm Shark cage? Can Fielder ride the wave of momentum from his second career event win to another win in Denver? Or may the World’s No. 1 and youngest PBR bull rider to surpass the 1-million dollar mark, John Crimber, take his fire from finishing fourth in Chicago and turn it into motivation to win Denver heading into Houston?
Don’t forget that while Crimber may have his foot mashed on the gas, Dalton “Mr. 90-Pointer” Kasel is still close in the 2025 World Champion race and could be looking to put together a few more 90+ point rides and walk out of Denver as the event champion.
Outside of all the interesting storylines that Denver could impact, such as the battle for the top spot between John Crimber and Dalton Kasel, there is a silver lining to all the bull riding available this week.
That is, it provides an escape to those winter bears down on. As old man winter keeps the temperatures chilly, we can all stay inside our warm homes and watch the action unfold.
Thank you to PBR and the production team that will do the work to make this broadcast happen. It will be appreciated not only by those looking to escape, looking out their frosted windows and seeing the reminder that Jack Frost is out there and waiting to nip at our noses, but also by the fans who will be able to catch all of the heart-racing action each time the gate swings open.
So, in closing, Monday through Saturday, PBR bull riding fans will be able to watch starting at 8:00 PM ET Monday through Wednesday, Thursday at 8:30 PM Stockyards Showcase from the historic Cowtown Coliseum, and then the cap off the week Friday night with Unleash The Beast action and the Texas Cup featuring the Texas Rattlers vs. the Austin Gamblers and Championship Saturday night in Houston.
The only question is, which event are you more excited about: PBR Denver or The Michelob ULTRA PBR Houston?
